Erin Piorier, LM, CPM, RN
Erin Poirier is a certified professional midwife, licensed in Minnesota (LM# 1062) and Wisconsin (License #220-49).
I began birthwork over twenty years ago after the homebirth of my daughter. I had never experienced healthcare like that before, unhurried, authentic, personalized, honest, and collaborative. I strive to bring those same qualities to my own work with families.
In the intervening years, I’ve been a doula, student midwife, Certified Professional Midwife, herbalist (Registered Herbalist, AHG), teacher of herbalism, medicine maker, and registered nurse. I was in private homebirth practice for nine years. I am currently splitting my work time between Willow and nursing in a local hospital.
I am excited to join Willow as a PRN or “as needed” midwife to help fill in the schedule so that other midwives can have time off to attend to their own health, well-being, and family needs.
As a lifelong athlete and practitioner of yoga, somatics and other movement modalities, I have a special interest in helping clients start, maintain, or modify a safe, healthy movement/exercise practice during pregnancy and postpartum and how to maintain a strong core and pelvic floor. I also love to share how biomechanics, posture and movement can alleviate aches and pain.
My other special clinical interest includes the safe use of herbal or botanical remedies during pregnancy, birth, postpartum and for the newborn. Feel free to bring your questions.
I live in St. Paul with my husband, two grown children and two dogs. In my spare time, I enjoy taking walks, skiing, master’s swimming, open water swimming, reading, baking, gardening, and making soap and other products.
