Jamie Huberty-Koerner
Jamie Huberty-Koerner is a certified professional midwife, licensed in Minnesota (LM# 1099) and Wisconsin (License #523-49).
As a midwife, I bear witness to the profound, sacred, and transformative moments within the childbearing year of a person’s life. Pregnancy and birth are normal physiological events and in my care, are treated as such. I emphasize evidence-based care that addresses the unique physical, emotional, and social needs of each client, and prioritize individualized care through autonomy, informed consent, and shared decision making.
As a doula in 2014, inspired by the quality and drawn to the thoroughness of care provided by midwives, I realized that midwifery was the next step in my journey. Through my Bachelors of Science in Midwifery (BSM) from Midwives College of Utah, I spent six years apprenticing with eight amazing midwives in homebirth and birth center practices.
As I began navigating my path to midwifery, my grandfather informed me that our family had a history of midwifery. Lena Appert, my great-great grandmother, was a midwife who welcomed thousands of babies in the Twin Cities and in the St. Cloud area in the early 1900's. I cherish the stories of Lena’s legacy and hope her spirit and wisdom continue to uplift me as I navigate my own path as a midwife.
Outside of my birth work, I enjoy spending time with my children (both of whom were born outside of the hospital), tending to my gardens, experimenting in my kitchen, exploring local restaurants, and seeing as much live music as possible.
